Crystalline Phase, Cross-Section, and Temporal Characteristics of Erbium-Ion in Lu3Ga5O12 Crystal

An erbium-doped Lu3Ga5O12(LuGG) single crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The crystalline phase in analyzed powder X-ray diffraction. erbium-ion emission spectra of were acquired. cross-section (ECS) spectrum computed from acquired spectrum. absorption (ACS) using McCumber relationship. results are discussed contrast to those spectrum, and comparison shows that both methods give consistent results. temporal characteristics emissions also studied based on 0.98 μm pulse pumping. study infrared at 1.0, 1.5, 2.8 show mono-exponentially behavior. Instead, decays two visible 0.56 0.67 considerable non-exponential features; each trace can be fitted double-exponentially. behavior is associated with erbium ions present form clusters, which enables non-radiative upconversion depopulation hence additional contribution decay through cross relaxation between clusters. about half cluster state crystal.
